The second game of the Walter Cup finals was even more thrilling then the first one…
Just like te first final game between Ottawa Charge and Minnesota Frost regular time was not enough to decide which team was gonna get away with the win… but this time it was Minnesota that scored in overtime to tie the series after the two games played in Ottawa!
There was no doubt that it was gonna be a tight and intense game when the two finalist of Walter cup was heading for round 2 in Ottawa! The battle was nervewrecking as none of the teams managed to score in the first two periods and the home fans probably doesnt have to go to fix their nails today…
But there was lots of qualified chances for both teams to find the net during the opening 40 minutes, but the two keepers stood tall and made some spectacular saves to keep their teams in the game.
Ottawa was the team tar finally found the net when Larocque came up with a late goal (17.25) in the third period, assisted by Meixner and Leslie!
Time became expensive for Minnesota as Ottawa went from being very offensive to really tro to shut down the game, but with 37 seconds left of regular time, Minnesota forced Ottawa to take a penalty and could head to powerplay. At this moment the guests also pulled their goalie to get a two player advance which finally gave result as Curl-Salemme took care of a rebound just in front of the net with only 16 seconds left of regular time, which tied the game and brought it to overtime.
It was doubtless Curl-Salemme’s night as she was the one that that also closed the game and got the win for her Minnesota as she scored the overtime goal that tied the series to 1-1.
Now the series head to Minnesota for two consecutive games and puck drops at 4pm on saturday for game 3.
damhockey.se wishes both teams best of luck and we’re looking forward to see the rest of this amazing final series.
